Nailed it! The doc's said everything is looking good. My thrush in my mouth is starting to go away, I got my staples out of my stomach where Gus came out of me, my scar is healing up nicely, and I have a small bald spot on the back of my head. I have an appointment to see a dermatologist today at 2:45pm. So we shall see what he tells me. Other than that everything is going up. Cardiac rehab was great. Walked for 20 minutes and I didn't even get tired. They told me that I must have gotten a athletes' heart because my heart rate was in the 80's and usually new transplant patients heart rates are in the high 90's to 100.
Me just walking on the good ol' treadmill.
Hi Ashley:
ReplyDeleteMy wife and I have been following your blog for the last 5 weeks. I was gifted a heart 3 years ago, through the same amazing heart team that you are working with.
We were amazed that you were so blessed to have a second heart show up. We wanted to let you know that we joined in prayer many times for you and still do. We wish you a hitch free recovery, which we fully expect. lt boils down to never missing your meds.
For me it's been a similar story, myopathy, defibrillator for 7 years (multiple shocks) and finally hospitalization. I was only days away from the pump when the heart became available. The team was and is fantastic. Fast forward 3 years, I'm down to 6 month Biopsies.
My wife and I bought road bikes shortly after transplant and when the weather doesn't allow that, I go to the local gym and do strength building as well as classes such as body step, and body combat. Basically, I'm just letting you know that you will be stronger than ever; I am! I wake up grateful every morning.
IF you sponsor any events, if we can participate, we will and hope to meet you someday. Best of Luck.

Dan and Jill,
DeleteThat is amazing. I would love to meet you guys. I think we are planning on doing a 5k race in July sometime, I will be posting it on my blog. Thanks for that information about the meds. So many meds though, I feel like that's my breakfast after taking all of them :) Thanks for the words of encouragement to as well, sometimes I think, "Come on body you can do this." I can't wait to be where you are, but I am very glad I am where I am now. Best of luck to you too!
Thanks again.
Wahoo! I'm glad you're doing so well. I'm also glad you got an athletes heart since you have a freakin awesome athletes body! 20 min seems like a huge step ( to me who knows nothing) awesome job!
