hate being sick

Hey guys, hope all y'all had a good week. Tuesday after the last home game of the Real Salt Lake my throat was not feeling the greatest. I thought it was from the sour startburst I was chopping down on during the game. So I just went to bed not thinking anything, until I woke up in the middle of the night with my throat hurting. I was hoping that it would go away before the sun came up. I woke up before the sun to go to the gym, but my throat was still there. I warmed up some water and threw some salt in it and gurgled some of its salty goodness. My throat wasn't that sore after so I put on some gym attire and headed downstairs to get the hubby up and at it. While I was going down the stairs, I thought to myself the gym is crawling with germs. Your white blood cells (WBC) are really low, maybe you shouldn't go. I ended up getting back into bed til 7:20 am. I tried calling the clinic where my doctors are at, but I got no one. I fell right back to sleep til my husband came in to say goodbye. I tried calling again and got a hold of someone and they said they would give the message to a nurse and have them call me. I have a nurses cell phone number so I decided to text her and ask her what she thought. She told me it was up to me and how I was feeling. I felt fine all I had was a sore throat. Out like a light once again. I rolled over checked my phone and noticed it was 8:50 am, so I got my butt up to get ready for work. As I was getting ready my mother walks in and says how's your throat? It hurts a little, but I'm fine. Well, you're not going to work. I told her that I had already asked one of the nurses. We kind of butted heads for a minute. In the end, I called in and told my boss that I had a sore throat. I went to go see the doctors and get my blood check. They took me off my Valcyte (fighting virus drug), told me to take it easy and scheduled me to go back in 2 weeks. My blood work came back better than last time, my WBC was 3.4 rather than 2.9. I was up in the 8-9 normally. A normal adult ranges from 3.5-10.5 WBC. Almost there kind of :) Thursday I went back to work, after I was so tired. Friday was an okay day still pretty tired, but my throat was getting better. Still popping cough drops like crazy. Saturday morning we were off to Idaho Falls to go and get our stuff to move into our house. So happy to have our own place again. Spent the night and headed back today. Nose is a leaky faucet now and I'm coughing a little here and there, still going strong though!

quarantine = self reflection

I was talking with my lovely mother on Facetime this morning and she suggested to post on my blog. I look at my blog and noticed I haven't posted since November! So here you go, during this crazy time I am no longer working and my day to day tasks have shifted drastically. I am sure all of you know what is going on all over the world. I hope all of you are staying safe and healthy. I have been in this situation before. I was taken out of the game due to my heart, my life was soccer. Now my life was going to work and heading off to soccer practice, but COVID-19 has taken that away. I am reflecting on my response when my heart wasn't doing that well. At first I was frustrated and asking why? Now I am doing the same thing. WHY? Because I am HUMAN I know!!! This time I caught myself and decided to choose another route.  My alternate route has been getting outside every darn day, no matter the weather and enjoying the beauties of this earth, sun, clouds, rain, breeze, nature, the ...

boise

This past week was a wake up for our Wrigley. We had a dog trainer come over to our house and teach us how to break his habits of aggression towards other dogs and people. We learned how Wrigley communicates and when to give affections and praise and when not to. Now that we have the proper tools rather than the wrong ones. We are excited to help train Wrigley's behaviors into more friendly ones. This process is going to be long, but just like our surrogate process we are going to dive in and handle whatever is to come. With the surrogacy I have spoken to my parent's neighbor about being our attorney and she agreed to represent us.  This weekend we headed up to Boise. Steve and I have always liked the idea of Boise, so we went to go and checked out some places. We got these bikes at the hotel we were staying at for FREE and rode around downtown Boise. We had a blast riding around to all the places. On the way home, we stopped to see Idaho State women's soccer play. They be...

Chalk It Up as a Miracle.........

Some of you may know, but Ashley went through another Heart Transplant yesterday. After her first first new heart started to fail, we re-listed on the her on the transplant list immediately. We knew getting another heart would be a long shot, but we wanted the option to be there if a heart came available. Sure enough 18 hours on the list a second heart came available that was a perfect match for Ashley. Ironically, it took 4.5 months and then 2 hearts in the same week. We, including the doctors, are all chalking it up as a miracle. It was decided not to wait to see if the first heart would handle the load she would need but rather to move forward with the new donor heart. Going through a transplant a second time makes you really feel for the family who lost their daughter, sister, spouse and friend. We are grateful again for the family and the individual who choose to give life. We were in quite a predicament and feel only divine intervention could hav...
