S'MORE family time

What a weekend!! My aunt, uncle and cousins came into town from Monticello, a small great town by Moab. It was great seeing them because it has been awhile since we have been all together. Since I can't travel over 2 hours away from the hospital for a couple more months I am very glad I got to see them and spent some time with 'em. I got to see the new Advengers movie with one of my cousins on Friday, way funny and good. I would go see it again, that good! On Saturday Steve and I went to breakfast with his sister, looked at some houses and then met up with everyone else and aunt Lo Lo to hit up some yard sales. That night we all went out for dinner, after the girls decided to do facials. The daughters did their mothers and then the mothers did the daughters. It was pretty fun and hilarious. Great memories and good laughs for sure. We took pictures, but we all look like we are dead, DEAD serious! Sunday the Monticello crew had to head back so Steve and I went to breakfast with them and then said our goodbyes :( They will be back in a couple weeks though!! Then we headed up to Steve's sister's house to help with yard work and pick up Steve's bike. Speaking about bikes, Steve got me this sick ace bike its a Stromer st1! Yes, it is an electric bike because my muscles are so deconditioned since I haven't been able to go far distance for forever, but now I can with a little help from the Stromer.

Sunday evening, my brother, girlfriend and D-man came over for Papa's huge burgers, fries and watermelon. For dessert we had S'MORES without the grahams though, but they were still mouth watering! I absolutely love spending time with my crazy family, we all have our corks and kinks that drive each other nuts, but when we get along now that is some good times and memories made! As I have gotten older family time has become something that I now cherish. My family has been my back bone through all that I have been through, yes, my heart problem, but they have been there from the beginning and to me this is something that is amazing. So thank you Papa for all the delicious food you have cooked me and for making sure its GF. Mama, thanks for being the shoulder I can cry on and be my true self. Brother, thanks for just being you and always there when I need you for all the little crazy stuff I randomly need. And Steve-o thanks for being my better half and making sure that I think before I act. I love you family!

The art of s'moring is real serious stuff in my family.

A Set-Back

I was hoping by now Ashley would be writing you, telling you how wonderful she is doing, but you get to hear from me again. Ashley had a major set back early Friday morning her new heart was failing her. It started with her getting nauseated and then by a couple of weird readings on the telepromter . She was sent back to the operating room to see what could be done. She has been placed on full bypass and full support so her new heart can rest. There are no signs of rejection and the doctors are in a conundrum, they don't know what happened. Ashley is sedated completely , she will not remember any of this. The hope is her heart will rest and come Monday or Tuesday they will begin to see what kind of load her heart can hold. Ashley needs your prayers and thoughts more now than ever, she is so strong and has the will to overcome anything throwing her way. We all believe in miracles and pray that one is happening for Ashley.

Chalk It Up as a Miracle.........

Some of you may know, but Ashley went through another Heart Transplant yesterday. After her first first new heart started to fail, we re-listed on the her on the transplant list immediately. We knew getting another heart would be a long shot, but we wanted the option to be there if a heart came available. Sure enough 18 hours on the list a second heart came available that was a perfect match for Ashley. Ironically, it took 4.5 months and then 2 hearts in the same week. We, including the doctors, are all chalking it up as a miracle. It was decided not to wait to see if the first heart would handle the load she would need but rather to move forward with the new donor heart. Going through a transplant a second time makes you really feel for the family who lost their daughter, sister, spouse and friend. We are grateful again for the family and the individual who choose to give life. We were in quite a predicament and feel only divine intervention could hav...

thank you 2015

What a year it has been for me, my family and friends. There were some pretty eventful days for all of us. So very thankful for my cheer squad through this year. Before this year I never thought of a heart transplant. I mean I knew I was going to get one sometime in my lifetime, but this soon. At first I was kinda upset when the doctor was telling me about how bad my heart was functioning. All of this came incredibly fast and now I am on the other end of it. I remember when I had a melt down with Gus and being so frustrated that I didn't get my new heart. Everyone else had got theirs, why not me? Those days have come and gone. I have learned so much about myself and how much Heavenly Father loves each in every one of you. He works in such mysterious ways, that is so amazing to me. I have not only learned, I have grown. My golden year has been one I will never forget and I bet I will be referencing through out my life. There are so many of you that I wa...
